Brightlingsea Regent Walking Football Team were successful in our grant application to the Trident Community Fund and Pitching In fund earlier in the year. This enabled us to purchase a mobile defibulator, two sets of goals and a range of first aid training opportunities for a number of team members. Our local MP, Sir Bernard Jenkin came and visited us today to hear about our grants funding and the community work generally that Brightlingsea Regent initiates or is involved in. We were also joined by Martin Le Jeune Head of Public Affairs, Entain.
Our coach, Gavin Aplin joined Sir Bernard Jenkins and Martin for a walk around the club ground and took the opportunity for a photo in front of the Pitching In board.
Sir Bernard Jenkins then joined all team Members at the recreation ground where a practice game was in progress. After a break Sir Bernard Jenkin joined us for a photo. He kicked off the second half for us and quickly headed to the safety of the sidelines as play immediately got underway. Martin joined in and said he had a fantastic time.
At a break in our practice we honoured the memory of Ash Bright , a founder and former player of our Walking Football Team who sadly passed away this week. Some happy memories of him were shared by those who knew him during the morning and Gavin said a few words of condolence.
We continued our practice on what was a beautiful sunny morning.
